SERMONS
WEEK ONE: Hopelessness
WEEK TWO: Tears
WEEK THREE: Uncertainty
WEEK FOUR: Coming Soon
prayer
The most important element for a breakthrough, is prayer! This challenge is an invitation to increase our prayer time. We encourage you to commit to a time of prayer every day to ask, seek, knock, and see what God will do!
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” - Matthew 7:7 NLT
Fasting
Fasting is emptying ourselves physically so that we can be filled spiritually. You could fast from food, or fast from something else such as social media. The goal is to deny ourselves something in order to put our focus on prayer.. We encourage you to think and pray about what God would have you fast from during this time. If you are exploring the spiritual practice of fasting for the first time or would like to review, you may benefit from reading this ebook on fasting: Download the “Your Personal Guide toPrayer and Fasten” by Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ Below
If you choose to make food a part of your fast, please consult your physician.
Types of Fasting
-
Selective Fast
This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, which you remove meat, sweets and bread from your diet, consume water and juice for fluids, and fruits and vegetables for food. If you are new to fasting you may want to limit the length of a food related fast to 3-7 days until you learn how your body will respond.
-
Soul Fast
This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance.
For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses after the fast.
-
Partial Fast
This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.
-
Complete Fast
In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option. This should only be done for a short period of time.
